  1. 01Profitability & Cash FlowCreating Options for the Owner  |  James Auerbach, Salem Sports Events & Mike Griffin, CMG VenturesDiscover the financial drivers and warning signs that shape your choices.

Is the business financially strong enough to give me choices?

A growing business isn’t necessarily a healthy business. At the end of the day, profitability and cash flow are what give an owner options: the ability to invest, hire great people, weather a downturn, fund growth, step away from the day-to-day, or eventually transition the business.

In this session, James Auerbach will dig into the financial fundamentals that matter most to an owner. We’ll look beyond revenue and the P&L to explore what really drives profitability and cash flow in an event rental business, how to recognize the financial warning signs growth can sometimes hide, and how to build a stronger financial foundation for whatever comes next.

Because if the business isn’t generating profit and cash, the rest doesn’t matter.
  2. 02Who’s Running the Business When You’re Not?Build a Leadership Team That Can Step Up  |  Stacie Volz, Titus TalentDevelop the people and decision-making capacity to move beyond daily operations.

Have I built the leadership team able to replace me?

Getting out of the day-to-day doesn’t happen because an owner decides to work fewer hours. It happens when you build a team capable of making decisions, leading people, solving problems, and driving the business forward without everything coming back to you.

In this session, we’ll explore what it takes to build your team. From identifying the roles and leadership capabilities your business really needs to developing existing employees, hiring for the gaps, and ultimately finding and preparing the person or people who can replace you operationally.

The goal isn’t to make yourself unnecessary to the business. It’s to make yourself unnecessary to the daily operation of the business, so you can spend your time where an owner can create the most value.

You can’t step out until someone else is ready to step up.
  3. 03From Operator to OwnerLeading From the Visionary Seat  |  Maria Goldstein, JR. Quigley, Inc.Redefine your role, delegate authority and lead without taking back control.

How does my role need to change as the business grows beyond me?

You’ve spent years building the business by being involved in everything. You know the customers, the equipment, the people, and probably still know exactly how you would handle most situations. But the skills and habits that helped you build the company can eventually become the very things that keep it dependent on you.

In this session, we’ll explore the shift from operating the business to truly leading it as an owner. What should you still own? What should you let go of? Where should you spend your time? And how do you provide vision, direction, and accountability without slipping back into the day-to-day?

Stepping back doesn’t mean disengaging. It means redefining where you bring the greatest value and giving your leadership team the space and authority to lead.

The next stage of your business may depend less on what you can do and more on what you can let go.

Choose Your Next Chapter

  1. 04Funding What’s NextCapital for Your Next ChapterExplore financing options and the tradeoffs among debt, equity and control.

Where does the money come from for my next chapter?

Growth takes capital. Whether you’re adding inventory, expanding into a new market, buying a competitor, purchasing real estate, or preparing for your next stage of ownership, having access to the right money at the right time can determine which opportunities you’re able to pursue.

In this session, we’ll explore the different ways established rental businesses can access capital, from traditional bank financing and lines of credit to SBA lending, equipment financing, outside investors, strategic partners, and other funding alternatives. We’ll also look at what lenders and investors want to see, how to position your business before you need the money, and how to think about the tradeoffs between debt, equity, control, and risk.

The goal isn’t simply to borrow more money. It’s to understand your options so capital becomes a tool for executing your strategy rather than a roadblock to it.

The best time to understand your funding options is before you need the money.
  2. 05Build, Buy, Sell or StayChoosing Your Next ChapterEvaluate growth, acquisitions, succession and ownership transition paths.

    What am I building toward?

At some point, every successful owner has to decide what comes next. Do you keep building the business you have? Acquire another company? Bring in a partner? Transition ownership to family or key employees? Sell to another rental company? Or simply build a business that provides income and freedom without requiring you to run it every day?

In this session, we’ll explore the strategic paths available to established rental business owners and what each choice means for you, your company, your employees, and your financial future. We’ll discuss acquisitions, internal succession, ownership transitions, and selling the business, including alternatives to private equity and what owners should be doing today to keep their options open.

You don’t need to know exactly when or how your ownership journey will end. But the decisions you make now can dramatically affect the choices you’ll have later.

Build the business today that gives you the choices you want tomorrow.
  3. 06My Rental JourneyWhat I Wish I Had Known  |  Owner PanelHear candid lessons from owners who have already navigated these decisions.

What can I learn from owners who have already traveled this road?

There’s no single roadmap for building, leading, and eventually stepping back from a successful rental business. Every owner’s journey is different, and sometimes the most valuable lessons come from hearing how others navigated the decisions you’re facing now.

In this closing session, a panel of experienced rental business owners will share their journeys: how their roles changed as their companies grew, the people and decisions that allowed them to step away from the day-to-day, the opportunities they pursued, the mistakes they made, and how their definition of success changed along the way.

We’ll talk candidly about growth, leadership, family, succession, acquisitions, selling, letting go, and life beyond the daily operation of the business. Most importantly, panelists will share what they wish they had known when they were sitting where you are today.

There’s more than one way to build a successful rental business, and more than one way to define what success looks like.
